Singapore willing to connect ASEAN, China

Singapore, as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, wants to bridge China and ASEAN member nations in building mutual trust.

Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan made the remark at a June 14 meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Kunming, China. 

For his part, the Chinese FM called on Singapore to bring into play its coordination role to promote dialogues and consultation between China and ASEAN nations, thus boosting the development opportunities of the parties. 

He also underlined that despite differences among China and several ASEAN nations, related parties need to continue maintaining peace and stability in the region.
