Another 65 patients tested positive for A/H1N1 flu on August 18, raising the total of confirmed cases in Vietnam to 1,576, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of the victims, 1073 have been discharged from hospital and two have reportedly died. The remaining 528 patients are in quarantine and are all in a stable condition.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reported that the super flu has spread to 168 countries and territories around the world and countries in the Southern Hemisphere continue to see a rapid increase in the numbers of new cases and fatalities.

The virus is also developing in a complex manner in Southeast Asia, with 100 deaths in Thailand, 59 deaths in Malaysia, 11 deaths in Singapore, and eight deaths in the Philippines.
