Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Do Quy Doan and British Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Kent on October 14 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation in information and communications.

The MoU, part of the two countries’ strategic partnership, focuses on exchanging information and experiences and promoting cooperation in building law and policies regarding information and communications, encouraging cooperation between Vietnamese and British businesses to upgrade the infrastructure, strengthening cooperation in human resources development and training, and exchanging experts and other personnel in the sector.

It also identifies cooperative measures in journalism, including a policy dialogue on the role of the press in society, idea exchanges on the implementation of law regarding reporting activities, and the training of Vietnamese journalists.

The MoU was signed a day before a delegation from the Ministry of Information and Communications, led by Deputy Minister Doan, is due to pay an official visit to the UK to learn about press activities in that country.
