The Prime Minister has approved a VND340 billion (US$16.32 million) aid package to Mekong delta provinces to help them overcome the consequence of the recent floods and ensure cultivation of the 2011-2012 winter-spring crop.
According to the decision, the assistance will be allocated to the provinces of An Giang, Dong Thap, Long An, Vinh Long, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Ben Tre, Bac Lieu and Can Tho city.

Seasonal floods, which rose to a record level this year, killed dozens of people and damaged tens of thousands of houses and large areas of crops in the Delta.
