Vietnam won three bronze medals in the third Pan Pacific Petanque Championship 2007 held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia recently.

The event attracted 94 athletes from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Cambodia and Vietnam.


Some 30 teams competed in three events, including the women's and men's doubles, and the men's team events. Representing Vietnam were 10 athletes from Ho Chi Minh City.


Thailand
dominated the competition, winning three gold medals, while host Cambodia won three silver medals.


In the first Pan Pacific Petanque Championship, which was held in the southern Vietnamese province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau in 2003, a team from HCM City won a silver medal in the women's doubles. In the second championship in 2005, a team from Binh Thuan won a gold medal.
