President hails Japan’s economic model

(VOV) - Japan provides an exemplary role model of economic development for Vietnam, President Truong Tan Sang told outgoing JICA Vietnam chief representative Tsumo Motonori.

At a reception in Hanoi on May 23, Sang acknowledged Japanese businesses’ successful operations in Vietnam, both qualitatively and quantitatively.

He noted with satisfaction the effective cooperation in politics, economics, trade, investment and culture between Vietnam and Japan, especially when both countries are celebrating 40 years of diplomatic ties this year.

Sang thanked Japan for giving valuable assistance to Vietnam over the years, notably its increased ODA capital despite its countless difficulties as a consequence of the powerful March 2011 earthquake and tsunamis.

He also thanked Japan for supporting Vietnamese commodities in penetrating its demanding market.

The president acknowledged Tsumo’s significant contributions to Vietnam’s development and expressed hope that Tsumo, in his new position as trade and industry chief representative of Japan’s Kansai region, will continue to boost cooperation between Vietnam and Kansai.

For his part, Tsumo said Vietnam is a key partner of Japan in Southeast Asia, and Japan will continue to provide ODA to Vietnam’s development projects, primarily in infrastructure upgrade.

Japan will increase its training of high-quality human resources for Vietnam, Tsumo said.

He pledged to make a greater effort to strengthen the Japan-Vietnam relationship.
