The Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre of southern Vinh Long province is proceeding with the third phase of a VND24-billion project funded by the World Bank (WB) to provide clean water and good sanitary conditions for rural people.

More than 18,000 rural households are expected to access clean water and much better hygienic conditions after this phase.

The first and second phases of the project provided clean water for 87,800 inhabitants in the remote areas of the province. They also helped 75 percent of the targeted households build bathrooms and lavatories meeting environmental and sanitary standards.

The project is part of a larger Mekong delta irrigation project with funding from the WB, the State and local people.
