The festival, the first of its kind in Vietnam, aims to create a common venue for devotees of old Vespas, the birthplace of which is Italy.

Assembled between 30-60 years ago, more than 400 scooters, intricately decorated with flowers and drawings, hit the road like “mobile works of art”.

After the opening ceremony, representatives from 21 clubs drove their Vespas around Xuan Huong Lake amidst enthusiastic support from local people and visitors during April 30 and May Day vacation.

Nguyen Vu Hoang, director of the Lam Dong Tourist and Cultural Festival Centre – the organizer of the festival – said that during the two-day festival participants will make a ride to Langbian tourism resort in Lac Duong district and Gougah waterfall tourism resort in Duc Trong district and hold a cultural exchange with ethnic people in the localities.

On the occasion, the organizing board will present 12 awards for the most beautiful Vespas at the festival.
