Vietnam has pledged equal treatment, free transfer of capital and remittance of profits abroad for foreign-invested projects operating in its land.

The pledges were made at a conference held in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum, on April 20, to promote investment to the Development Triangle that covers the border areas of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

At the conference, that drew over 250 investors from the three countries and Japan, a Ministry of Investment and Planning official said that Vietnam has poured US$454.4 million into investment projects in Laos and Cambodia.

Also at the conference, authorities from the Lao provinces of Sekong and Attopour invited the Forest Specialties Corporation of Quang Tri province in central Vietnam to conduct a feasibility study into a US$10 million contract for the planting of 30 hectares of forest.
