Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the Vietnamese government and people will do their utmost to boost friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Turkey. The PM made the statement while receiving the newly accredited Turkish Ambassador Ates Oktem in Hanoi on June 11.

The PM affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy to promote effective cooperation with Turkey in various areas and requested the two countries’ inter-governmental committee to meet as soon as possible in order to accelerate bilateral cooperation programmes.

PM Dung said he hopes the Turkish ambassador will serve as a bridge to closer cooperation between the two countries in the political, diplomatic, economic, defence, cultural and educational fields.

Ambassador Ates Oktem said that in recent years the two countries have strengthen their relations at both bilateral and multilateral forums.

The diplomat said his country is implementing an aid project to provide medicine worth US$200,000 for mothers and children in northern Bac Ninh province.
He also said he hopes the Vietnamese government will support the air transport cooperation programme between the two countries.
