China has praised Vietnam's initiatives during its renewal process, said deputy head of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China's Policies Research Office He Yiting on May 29.

He Yiting said he was convinced that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people would try to exceed the targets set forth by the 10th Party Congress, with a view to successfully building a socialist country with a rich population and an equitable, democratic and civilised society.

Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Nguyen Van Son said He Yiting’s visit, within the framework on annual co-operation between the two Parties is part of a two-way dialogue aimed at strengthening the traditional friendship between the two parties, states, and people.

Mr Son thanked the Party and State of China for their timely and effective assistance to Vietnamese fishermen caught in Typhoon Chanchu.

The Chinese delegation held talks with a delegation from the Party Central Committee's Organisation Commission, led by its deputy head Ta Xuan Dai.

The two sides exchanged views on theoretical and practical issues on party building. They agreed that in the current situation, strengthening the leadership capacity and fighting power of the parties and ensuring sustainable development were vital for both nations. The two sides agreed to continue the dialogue on party building in the near future. The Chinese delegation will visit the northeastern province of Quang Ninh and HCM City.
