Beauty queens assist flood victims in central Vietnam
VOV.VN - A number of beauty queens arrived in Hue city, central Vietnam, on October 21 with the organisers of the Miss Vietnam pageant in order to present gifts to flood victims in the region.
Le Xuan Son, editor-in-chief of Tien Phong (Vanguard) Newspaper and head of the pageant’s organising board, took part in the trip alongside Miss Vietnam 2016 Do My Linh, Miss Vietnam 2018 Tieu Vy, and Miss World Vietnam 2019 Luong Thuy Linh.
The Miss Vietnam pageant has successfully raised VND8 billion over the past few days following the launch of a charity campaign aimed at helping flood-hit areas in the country’s central region.
Of the total, VND4.36 billion is to be given out between October 21 and October 23 directly to residents in the areas worst affected by flooding, including Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri provinces.
The beauty queens delivered a sum of VND90 million in cash to 76 families in Loc Dien commune who have lost loved ones in the recent flooding, in addition to VND115 million given to poor households in Loc An commune.
The organisers of the beauty contest offered two tonnes of rice, in addition to canoes, in an effort to assist the victims to overcome the consequences of the natural disaster.
