The 12th Computer Electronics World Expo drew the participation of 150 foreign companies, including big names like Intel, Canon, Hitachi, Samsung and many others from the EU, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and China.

Forty US companies came to the event with keen interest in Vietnam's IT sector, said Seth Winnick, US General Consul in HCM City.

Among the 100 local businesses joining the expo were 10 well-known PC assembling companies and 30 software processing companies.

According to the International Data Group (IDG), one of the expo's organisers, this year's event concentrates more on digital electronic devices and the entertainment industry due to their recent growth in the world market.

The four-day expo is expected to attract at least 200,000 visitors.
