Laos, Vietnam should accelerate investment projects

VOV.VN - Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sonsay Siphandone has suggested Vietnamese and Lao governments should speed up joint investment projects in the time to come, including the Hanoi-Vientiane expressway and the Hon La – Khammouan oil pipeline.

At a November 17 meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi as part of his ongoing working visit to Vietnam, the Lao Deputy PM asked the two countries bolster cooperation between localities and redouble efforts to facilitate enterprises' investments in the respective markets.

PM Phuc affirmed Vietnam's efforts to strengthen the time-testing friendship and cooperation with Laos , especially supporting local businesses to boost investments in Laos .

He asked Laos to take specific measures to build an oil pipeline from Hon La Port in the central province of Quang Binh to the central province of Khammouan, as well as the use of Vung Ang Port in the central province of Ha Tinh as a transit place for Lao cargos.

He also urged the two sides to work hand in hand to implement effectively investment projects and share experience in socio-economic development management, and emphasized agro-forestry-fisheries as potential fields for broader cooperation in the future.
