Businesses team up to build memorial in Laos

(VOV) - The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group began constructing a relic area dedicated to Laos’ King Saysetha in Attapeu province on February 26. 

Laos State President Choummaly Sayasone, Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and high-ranking officials of the two countries all attended the ground-breaking ceremony.

BIDV CEO Tran Bac Ha said the memorial is an important project sponsored by both the bank and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group,with a total capital investment of US$2.1 million.

The complex includes traditional Lao houses, roads, yards, and electricity and water supply systems. 

State President Sayasone expressed his appreciation of the Vietnamese businesses’ assistance for the project, saying it testifies to the fine development of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

He praised Vietnamese businesses operating in Laos for not only boosting investment cooperation, but also contributing to Laos’ cultural preservation.
