State leader pays tribute to late South African President

(VOV) - State President Truong Tan Sang and his entourage have laid a wreath at Hanoi’s South African Embassy on December 10, expressing sympathy after the recent passing of former President Nelson Mandela.

Sharing his condolences with Embassy staff, President Sang related the grief of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people over the loss of former African National Congress (ANC) Chairman and national President. Sang described Mandela as a prominent African leader who also opposed injustice around the world.

Mandela dedicated his whole life to the struggle for freedom and justice, and will shine forever as a symbol of reconciliation and humanity.

In the mourning book, Sang wrote “The Party, State, and people of Vietnam express their deep condolences to Nelson Mandela’s family, the ANC, and South African people. We believe South Africa will overcome the great loss and reinforce solidarity to reap even greater national development achievements.”
