Kyrgyz Foreign Minister visits Vietnam

(VOV) - Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan will accelerate negotiations and sign a number of agreements in economics, trade, investment, and finance in the coming time.

The agreement was reached during talks in Hanoi on February 18 between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and visiting Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Abdyldaev Erlan Bekeshovich.

They said the two sides will work and finalise a sound legal framework for stronger cooperation in economics, trade, culture, sports, tourism, and education-training.  

They discussed ways to strengthen political-diplomatic ties and coordinate closely at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations.

Bekeshovich said Kyrgyzstan considers Vietnam a key partner in Southeast Asia and wants to further friendship and cooperation with the country.

Minh affirmed Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening cooperation with traditional friends, including Kyrgyzstan.

Both host and guest held that despite geographical distance, relations between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan have stood the test of time and developed well over the years, particularly in politics and diplomacy.

They agreed to increase high-level visit exchanges to bolster bilateral cooperation in various areas.

Bekeshovich conveyed Kyrgyz President Almasbek Atambaev’s invitation to State President Truong Tan Sang to visit Kyrgyzstan.  He also invited Minh to visit his country at an appropriate time.

After talks, they signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries.

The same day, Bekeshovich was received by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
