Vietnamese State leader meets Speaker of Japan’s House of Councillors

VOV.VN -President Tran Dai Quang and Speaker of House of Councillors of the Japanese National Diet Chuichi Date expressed their delight at the vigorous growth of the Vietnam-Japan ties at their meeting in Tokyo on May 30.

Chuichi Date showed his joy to welcome President Tran Dai Quang and his high-level Vietnamese delegation to Japan when the two countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties. He thanked President Quang, his wife and Vietnamese people for their warm reception for Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko during their Vietnam visit last year.

He also said he is happy to see the strong, comprehensive and practical development of the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership as shown by a number of high-level visits and people-to-people exchanges over recent years.

President Quang in turn noted with satisfaction the robust and substantive growth of the bilateral relations over the past 54 years, especially since the two countries upgraded their ties to the Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia in 2014.

Vietnam always regards Japan as a top and long-term partner, he stressed.
The Vietnamese State leader suggested bolstering cooperation between their legislative bodies with increased exchanges of information and experience in law making.

He also asked the Japanese speaker to advocate the promotion of Japanese trade and investment activities in Vietnam and the continued ODA provision for the Southeast Asian nation’s key projects, particularly in high-quality human resources training and climate change adaption.

He also proposed augmenting cooperation in labour affairs, intensifying people-to-people exchanges and providing conditions for their people to live, study and work in each country.

The Vietnamese State leader urged the National Diet of Japan to strongly back ASEAN’s stance on the East Sea issue and help Vietnam improve the capacity of marine law enforcement forces.

Speaker Chuichi Date spoke of his appreciation for Vietnam’s success in hosting the 26th Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) and suggested the two sides further boost ties at multilateral parliamentary forums and enhance exchanges between their parliamentary agencies, particularly between young parliamentarians in the future.

Japan is ready to partner with and support Vietnam in socio-economic development, thus contributing to elevating the bilateral extensive strategic partnership to a new height for the benefit of the two countries’ people, he told his guest.
