US Communist Party delegation visits Vietnam

VOV.VN - On April 1, Party General Secretary of the Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong hosted a reception in Hanoi  for the visiting Chairman of the Communist Party USA John Bachtell.

Party leader Trong briefed his guest on the results of the 12th National Party Congress and called for the strengthening of cooperation between the two parties.

He also asserted Vietnam’s policy of giving priority to enhanced relations with traditional friends and political parties of countries worldwide, including the Communist Party USA.

John Bachtell in turn said his party treasures its relationship with the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV). He also pledged to do everything possible to contribute to the smooth development of cooperation between the two parties, countries and peoples in the near future.

The same day, John Bachtell held talks with Hoang Binh Quan, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs during which they exchanged views on regional and international issues of shared concern and discussed measures to augment cooperation between the two sides.

During their visit to Vietnam, the US delegation paid tribute at Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and worked with several ministries and agencies.

They also made fact-finding tours of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Ninh province.
