Vietnamese students hold congress in France

(VOV) - Nearly 100 delegates representing Vietnamese students living in France gathered at the fifth congress of the Vietnamese Students Association (UEVF) on November 27.

The congress reported that in the 2010-2012 term, the UEVF has made significant achievements and set up nine new chapters with a total of more than 7,500 students.

The association has held a number of activities, such as assisting new students and holding seminars, cultural and sports programmes and donating money to flood victims in the central region and to poor students back home.

It devised tasks for the new term, such as coordinating with other organisations in France to promote Vietnam and expand relations with Vietnamese and French agencies and organisations to strengthen overall ties between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to France, Duong Chi Dung, praised UEVF’s achievements and encouraged Vietnamese students to support each other and to contribute to their homeland through practical activity. Each student should act as a cultural ambassador to introduce Vietnam’s culture, history and traditions to the international community, said the diplomat.

He proposed many ideas to help UEVF improve its performance efficiency and asked the organization to join hands with the embassy and the Vietnamese People’s Association in France to carry out activities marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries .
