Top NA leader meets Australian diplomat

VOV.VN -  National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hailed the outgoing Australian Ambassador Hugh Borrowman's  contributions to strengthening bilateral cooperation at a reception in Hanoi on May 24.

Ngan expressed her delight at the fine political relations as well as fruitful cooperation in economics trade and investment, education and training between the two nations.

Australia is among the top trading partners and investors in Vietnam with annual trade growth of 10%, hitting approximately US$5 billion in 2015. 


The top legislator thanked Australia for providing support through ODA projects including the Cao Lanh and My Thuan bridges, saying that such projects represented the friendship between the two countries. 

Hugh Borrowman in turn applauded the Vietnamese community in Australia for their contributions in the country, saying that the prospects for fostering relations between the two countries were still wide open. 

In the near future, Australia remains an important partner of Vietnam in development cooperation programmes, the Australian diplomat said, noting that both sides will continue to carry out the agreement on legislative cooperation with a focus on cooperation on gender equality and female empowerment.
