The Central Highland province of Gia Lai is busy making preparations for the International Gong Festival scheduled for November 12-15.
Even though there are still two months to go, colourful banners for the event can be seen at every corner in the mountain city of Pleiku.

Earlier this month, the provincial authorities issued a detailed plan for the festival, which is to highlight the gong culture, a UNESCO-recognized Intangible Heritage.

The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Square 17/3 in Pleiku city. Throughout the festival there will be gong performances in several tourist areas such as Dong Xanh.

The Director of Pleiku Airport, Nguyen Thai Hoa, said that a VND17 billion signal light system has just been installed and the airport is ready to welcome a greater-than-normal number of passengers over the festival.
