The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cambodian Ministry of Interior have signed a cooperation programme to fight criminals in 2007.

The signing took place in Phnom Penh on February 7 during Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh's four-day working visit to Cambodia beginning on February 6.

The programme focuses on regular exchange of information and collaboration in fighting terrorism, organised and transnational crime, human trafficking, drug smuggling, money laundering and illegal immigration.

Personnel training is another aspect of the 2007 programme, which aims to reinforce the two countries' cooperation in defending national security, maintaining social order and building a common border of peace, friendship, stability and development.

Last year, the two ministries collaborated effectively in maintaining social order in the two countries and bringing to light a number of criminal rings involved in drugs, women and children trafficking.
