Leaders of the investigative agencies under the Ministry of Public Security on January 12 signed a decision to prosecute Nguyen Huu Thang, Nguyen Xuan Vinh and Nguyen Hong Thanh for their involvements in the scandal.

According to Colonel Tran Trong Luong, deputy head of the Social Order Investigation Police Department C14, former coach of Song Lam Nghe An Nguyen Huu Thang and executive director of Song Lam Nghe An club Nguyen Hong Thanh were prosecuted on charges of bribery, while former accountant of the Pjico-Song Lam Nghe An Club Nguyen Xuan Vinh was accused of corruption.

 

Thanks to his honest attitude during questioning time, Nguyen Hong Thanh was allowed to be released on bail, while Nguyen Huu Thang and Nguyen Xuan Vinh were taken into custody for four months.

 

The same day, the People’s Supreme Procuracy approved a decision to prosecute three football players namely Van Truong, Hai Lam and Phuoc Vinh, for gambling.

 

According to the results of initial investigation, the three footballers and their four teammates were involved in the match-fixing scandal at the 23rd SEA Games.
