Teenagers are inheriting the fine tradition of their predecessors and striving to become talented and virtuous citizens to build a strong nation.

The Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation held a meeting in Hanoi on May 14 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization.

Nguyen Thi Ha, Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union delivered a speech recalling the historic tradition of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation.

Over the past 70 years, the organization and its members in every corner of the nation have been actively involved in emulation movements and made many contributions to the cause of national liberation and construction. Beginning with only five members, it has grown to 15 million members in 24,000 young pioneer detachments from Nam Quan to Ca Mau Cape.

The people in charge of the children have also developed strongly along with organization. The country now has nearly 30,000 leaders of pioneer detachments at schools, residential blocs and thousands of experts and collaborators have worked with the organisation’s chapters and children’s palaces to promote the development of the young generation.

Nguyen Thi Ha emphasized that 1.6 million pioneers are admitted to the organization every year with nearly 1 million becoming Youth Union members, 12 million pioneers and teenagers being awarded the title of “Uncle Ho’s nephew or nieces”.

Ms Ha added that in the future, the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation will make greater efforts to fulfill their assigned tasks to educate young people about morality, personality and revolutionary ideals as well as love for their homeland.

Dinh The Huynh, politburo member and Director of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC)’s Commission for Information and Education congratulated the organization on its development and growth over the past seven decades. He stressed that the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation has launched various movements that reflect the nation’s diligence, fine traditions and strong will to overcome difficulties such as “Vietnamese teenagers strive to fulfill Uncle Ho’s five teachings”, “Friends’ Embrace” or “Helping friends go to school”.

Shining examples of teenagers and collectives have emerged in all fields through these campaigns. They represent Vietnamese teenagers in the new times and affirm the important role the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation plays in nurturing young people.

Mr Huynh said to contribute to building a prosperous, democratic, fair and civilized nation, young pioneers and children should strive to become talented and virtuous citizens as they will be the future intellectuals, experts and highly qualified staff who will assume high positions in all fields of society. The Vietnamese Party, State and people trust that young pioneers will promote the nation’s patriotic and revolutionary traditions and strive to study hard to fulfill Uncle Ho’s five teachings.
