The Republic of Korea has received 14,350 Vietnamese guest workers since October 2004, according to the Vietnam Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).

Recent reports said Vietnamese guest workers are highly disciplined and industrious and earn a monthly salary of US$900-1,200 per head.

To strengthen transparency and democracy in the process of recruiting, training and sending Vietnamese guest workers in the RoK in future, the MoLISA and the RoK’s Ministry of Labour will jointly organise a seminar in Vietnam in 2007 to introduce a labour licence programme.
