He said he is happy to see basic infrastructure facilities of the zone taking shape, such as a seaport, a shipyard and a petrochemical refinery.

Provincial leaders told Mr Triet that resettlement work is one of the major obstacles barring construction work and investment attraction to the zone. They asked the Government to issue mechanisms on providing capital in advance for the resettlement work to speed up site clearance for the zone.

Mr Triet asked Thanh Hoa to mobilize capital from different sources to resolve problems relating to land acquisition as real estate prices fluctuate rapidly. He also urged the province to complete the zoning plan on building Nghi Son EZ to submit to the Prime Minister for approval in order to lure investors.

It is important to make use of the province’s labour force and focus on human resource development, he noted.

President Triet expressed his belief that if Nghi Son EZ is developed well, combined with the success of the industrial complex in the northern part, the province’s industrial proportion in GDP will increase considerably.
