Six Vietnamese students won one gold, four silver and 1 bronze medals at the 51st International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) held in Astana, Kazakhstan from July 2-14.

The gold medal went to Nguyen Ngoc Trung, a 12th grade student from the Hung Vuong Secondary School in the northern province of Phu Tho.

Four silver medals were bagged by Pham Viet Cuong and Nguyen Kieu Hieu, both 12th grade students from the Le Quy Don Secondary School in Da Nang City; Tran Thai Hung, an 11th grade student from the Practical Secondary School under the Ho Chi Minh City Teachers’ University and Vu Dinh Long, also an 11th grade student from the Hanoi College of Natural Sciences.

Nguyen Minh Hieu, another 12th grade student from the Hanoi College of Natural Sciences, won bronze medal.

With four medals, Vietnam came out on top at the Olympiad.
