Officials from the Steering Board of the South-Western region on September 24 visited and presented gifts to the Khmer people in southern Bac Lieu province on the occasion of their traditional Sene Dolta Festival.

Son Song Son, deputy head of the steering board extended greetings to the Khmer people, including Buddhists and followers, and wished them a happy festival.

Venerable Ly Sa Muoi, head of the provincial monks and nuns’ solidarity committee, said Khmer monks and nuns will continue to promote unity to live happily alongside non-religious people.

On this occasion, provincial officials presented gifts to 22 Khmer pagodas and poor Khmer families to help them enjoy the celebrations.

The province also held a get-together the same day for war veterans, pensioners, heroic Vietnamese mothers, war invalids and Buddhist monks and nuns to celebrate the festival.

Since May 1992, Bac Lieu has spent VND127 billion building nearly 32,000 compassionate houses and another VND47.5 billion supporting poor Khmer people. The number of poor Khmer households has dropped by 4 percent annually.
