The Vietnam Military Post and Telecom Corporation (Viettel) has been permitted to provide telecom services in Cambodia.

The licence was handed to Viettel by the Cambodian Minister of Posts and Telecommunications So Khun in Phnom Penh on May 25 in the presence of Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Banh.

Under the licence, Viettel will provide a VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) telephone service within Cambodian territory, and will become the first Vietnamese telecom company operating in Cambodia.
