Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has received First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jabor Al-Thani who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

At a reception in Hanoi on January 30, Prime Minister Dung welcomed Qatar’s first Deputy Prime Minister, saying that the visit will contribute to boosting relations between the two countries.


Mr Dung informed the guests of Vietnam’s socio-economic achievement and its policies aimed at attracting foreign investment and agreed that the two countries will soon sign an agreement on double taxation avoidance and an agreement on receiving Vietnamese labourers to work in Qatar. He said Vietnam will create favourable conditions for Qatar enterprises to invest in infrastructure construction, banking and insurance.


First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jabor Al-Thani told PM Dung that Qatar has a strong financial resource and is experienced in the fields of investment, particularly banking, tourism and services. Qatar is ready to raise the total number of Vietnamese labourers working in the country from 6,000 to 60,000.


Mr Al-Thani said that in the next two months, Qatar will conclude four deals with Vietnam relating to double taxation avoidance, labour supply, the opening of air routes and investment protection.
