Party official attends media meeting

(VOV) - Journalists should honour the traditions of the revolutionary press, transcending difficulties and addressing shortcomings to disseminate information regarding national renewal, construction, and defence in a thorough, profound, and righteous manner.

Politburo member and Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Secretary Dinh The Huynh made the above statement at a national press conference on February 19.

Huynh, who is also Head of the CPVCC’s Commission for Communication and Education, said 2013 is significant to successfully implementing the 11th National Party Congress Resolution as well as the 10-year socio-economic development strategy designed to turn Vietnam into a modern industrialized nation by 2020.

In the immediate term, media agencies need to disseminate the Party’s, National Assembly’s, and Government’s Resolutions; spread public opinions of the draft 1992 constitutional amendments; and cover national patriotic movements, he said.

Huynh highlighted journalists’ contributions to implementing the CPVCC resolution on the Party building.

He commended media agencies on the diversity of their information and innovation in content. Huynh also acknowledged agency efforts in realising their assigned political tasks, running the “Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example” campaign, reporting on socio-economic development responsibilities, and highlighting the importance of safeguarding national sovereignty.
