A meeting was held recently in Amsterdam between businesses of the Netherlands and Vietnamese newly accredited Ambassador Huynh Minh Chinh.

Representatives from the Ministry of Economy and nearly 40 Dutch enterprises, including Damen Shipyards B.V, Develing International B.V, Haskoning Nedeland B.V., Deutsche Bank Nerderland N.V. attended the event organized by the Netherlands Council for Trade Promotion (NCH), Rotterdam Chamber of Commerce and the Netherlands-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce.

Vietnamese Ambassador Chinh praised Dutch enterprises’ contributions to turning the Netherlands into the fourth largest market for Vietnam’s export products and third biggest investors of the EU in Vietnam.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam was always an attractive destination for investment, a potential market, a bridge for ASEAN economies and a gate to East Asian economies.

He introduced priorities in Vietnam’s socio-economic development policies in 2010 and expressed his hope for closer trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Pim Schuurman from the Netherlands-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce highlighted fine cooperation between businesses of the two countries, especially between the Damen Shipyards B.V with Vietnamese partners.

Starting operation in Vietnam in 1994, Damen Shipyards B.V helped Vietnam build about 100 ships and is actively cooperating with Vietnamese partners.

He expressed admiration at Vietnam’s economic achievements and his belief that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop in the future.
