National Radio of Laos and Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) should increase co-operation and mutual help to better fulfill the political missions they have been assigned by the two Parties and States, said newly-elected Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos.

At a reception in Vientiane on June 14 for VOV Director General Vu Van Hien, the Lao Prime Minister highly valued the cooperative relations between the two national radios that, he said, have facilitated the dissemination of policies and plans by the two Parties and States.

For his part, Mr Hien congratulated Mr. Bouphavanh, who is also politbureau member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, for his election as Prime Minister of Laos.

Mr. Hien also informed the Prime Minister of the outcome of the co-operation between his agency and National Radio of Laos over the recent time.

The same day, the Vietnamese delegation held a working session with representatives from the National Radio of Laos, led by Director General Bounthanh Inthaxay.

Part of the meeting involved evaluations on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding during the 2005-2008 period. Both Vietnamese and Lao officials agreed on further co-operation in information exchange and technical capacity enhancement through exchanges of experts, journalists and reporters.

On June 13, the Vietnamese delegation held a meeting with Minister of Information and Culture Munkeo Olabun, member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee.
