US Secretary of Veterans Affairs James Nicholson, on behalf of more than 25 US war veterans, thanked Vietnam for its effective co-operation in the search for American soldiers missing in action (MIA) during the war in Vietnam. The co-operation has contributed to easing the war pains of many US servicemen, said Mr Nicholson at a meeting with HCM City leaders on April 27.

Mr Nicholson said he himself and US war veterans always want to bring peace and freedom to the two countries’ people.

James Nicholson used to be a US serviceman in Pleiku 40 years ago and this was the first time he had returned to Vietnam.

During the Vietnam visit, which will conclude on April 29, he met with Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Hang.
