More than 60 professors, doctors and researchers on Buddhism from 30 countries will attend a conference entitled "Buddhism in the New Era-Chances and Challenges" in Ho Chi Minh City on July 15-16.

The conference was co-organised by the Vietnam Buddhism Research Institute and the Ho Chi Minh City-based Van Hanh Zen Monastery.

The organisers said at a press briefing on July 6 that the event will be the largest international symposium on Buddhism to take place in Vietnam so far.

Vietnamese Buddhist researchers plan to introduce foreign guests to the spiritual traditions and cultural values of the Vietnamese people, said Vice Headmaster of the Vietnam Buddhism Research Institute Le Manh That.
