An annual get-together for overseas Vietnamese to celebrate the lunar New Year (Tet) festival will be held at the Thang Long Royal Citadel Relic in Hanoi on February 6.

At the event, Party and State leaders will talk about the country’s development in 2009 and tasks for 2010, host an exchange with participants and listen to their recommendations.

Participants will be treated to traditional dishes of three regions and a special art performance.

The programme will be jointly held by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee and Vietnam Television.

Half a million Vietnamese expatriates returned home to celebrate the Tet festival last year.
