Nearly 2,300 ethnic minority households in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum will benefit from a forestland allocation project which will be provided with nearly VND28.4 billion (around US$1.78 million) in the state budget between now and 2010.

The project involves allocating forestland to ethnic minority households, providing them with technical training and loans, and increasing public awareness about the Law on Forest Protection and Development.

The project is designed to allocate over 17,140 ha of forestland to ethnic minorities for production and more than 34,150 ha of forest to them for protection.

Once completed, the project is expected to develop nearly 51,300 ha of forest.
