The electronics company Samsung Vina will launch a walk on June 3 to raise funds for poor and studious children in Vietnam.

The information was released by the company and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union at a press briefing in Hanoi on May 24.

This year’s programme, the seventh to be held by Samsung Vina so far, is expected to attract 20,000 walkers, each of whom will donate VND10,000 to the "Fund for Poor Children Overcoming Difficulties" of the HCM Communist Youth Union. Samsung Vina will grant a total of VND200 million to the fund right after the event.

Fully aware of the significance of the programme, Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy and a number of young singers will also participate to encourage the walkers.

The charity sports programme has attracted 180,000 participants over the past six years to raise nearly VND1.8 billion for flood victims, Agent Orange-affected children, and poor children excelling in studies.
