The Central Highlands province of Dak Nong has earmarked VND45 billion (US$2.8 million) for the second phase of its poverty alleviation programme from 2006 to 2010.

The funding will go to socio-economic and infrastructural projects in the province’s 10 poorest villages inhabited by ethnic minority groups, and those living in the border areas.

The target communities will be assisted in upgrading rural traffic systems, schools, communal houses, irrigation projects and safe water supply systems.

The programme will also supply free saplings and young animals for poor families from ethnic minorities and training courses for ethnic cadres in various localities.
