COVID-19: Five imported cases bring total to 1,059
VOV.VN - Vietnam confirmed an additional five cases of COVID-19, all imported, during the past 12 hours, raising the national count to 1,059, the Ministry of Health reported on September 9 afternoon.
The newly-detected patients entered Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City from Ukraine on flight VN28 on September 1 and were immediately quarantined after their entry into the country.
Their first test result was negative for the coronavirus on September 3, and the second test result on September 9 at the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City came back positive for the SARS-CoV- 2 virus.
Currently, the patients are put into isolation to undergo treatment in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
With the new infections, the nation’s total COVID-19 cases climbed to 1,059, including 691 local transmissions, 551 linked to the outbreak in Da Nang, the nation’s COVID-19 epicentre since July 25, whilst 368 cases were imported and placed into quarantine immediately upon arrival.
Among the positive cases currently receiving treatment, 50 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 at least one.
The same day, a total of 21 COVID-19 patients were declared to have fully recovered from the disease, boosting the national tally of recoveries to 890.
There has been 37,780 people in quarantine nationwide, with 727 individuals at hospitals, whilst the remainder are at other quarantine facilities or at home.
