A bomb weighing 230 kg has been unearthed and successfully defused in Vinh Niem ward, Le Chan district, northern port city of Hai Phong.

Soldiers of the military Company 319 discovered the 1.37m-bomb 3.5m underground while building a road in the area.

The explosive device is believed to have been released by the US troops in late 1972.
