Sa Na village in Thanh Hoa hit by devastating flash floods

VOV.VN - A 10-minute series of flash floods swept through Sa Na village in Na Meo commune of Quan Son district in the central Thanh Hoa province on August 3, destroying over 30 homes in the process and leaving a number of local people missing.

Due to the flooding on August 3, Sa Na village is left isolated. The flooding is caused by the effects of Typhoon Wipha, the third storm to hit the country this year.
The village is located approximately 200km away from the centre of Thanh Hoa City.
A total of 12 residents have been reported missing in Sa Na village, with five of them being from the same family.
With the village so isolated, rescue teams spend over three hours attempting to access Sa Na.
The strength of the floods also causes dozens of homes belonging to local residents to be swept away.
The village of Sa Na is hard hit as a result of the extreme weather.
Flooding completely destroys a number of homes belonging to local residents.
Due to the serious nature of the flooding, local rescue forces arrive on the scene to attempt to aid the recovery efforts of local residents.
A total of 500 soldiers are involved in rescue teams and are divided into smaller groups with the aim of finding some of the missing victims.
Rising water levels have caused increasing difficulties for rescue teams.
Some of the rescue teams reach Sa Na village to relieve the village and supply local people with food.
The pace of the flooding cause a rescue boat to capsize.
Many locals are distraught after seeing the affect the extreme weather has had on their village.
Vu Thi Hop notes her disbelief that flash flooding has resulted in devastation for her home and her entire village.
