Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong has agreed to resume a project to restore Long Bien bridge, which was built from 1898 to 1902 with old French-styled architecture.

The Consultancy and Design Corporation under the Transport Ministry has been assigned to complete the details of the project to submit to the Vietnam Railway Corporation for approval by September 15, 2007.

Under the project, the 1,600m-long bridge will be comprehensively repaired and extended in order to meet modern traffic requirements, while still retaining its original architectural style.
