Malaysian AE Models Holdings Bhd (Maemode) will set up production facilities in India and Vietnam in 2007 to better serve its customers in the two countries, Maemode Managing Director and Chairman Lim Kee Sinn said.

Lim said that Maemode, which is a one-stop automation system solutions provider, was finalising its projects in Chennai and Ho Chi Minh City, and it will invest about US$1 million in each of the two plants.

Maemode’s decision to set up facilities in both countries is due to the increase in foreign direct investments in the countries, Lim said, adding that after China, India and Vietnam are becoming one of the most attractive destinations for foreign investors and multinational corporations.

Mr Lim also said that these plants will focus on maintenance and service activities, and probably include manufacturing at a later stage.
