A meeting was held in Ha Giang province on September 29 to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and China as well as the Vietnam-China Friendship Year.

Delegations from Bai Se City in China’s Guangxi province as well as districts bordering Ha Giang, including Malypho, Ma Jun, and Fu Ninh in Yunnan province also attended the meeting.

Secretary of the Ha Giang Party’s Committee, Hoang Minh Nhat said Vietnam-China relations are developing well based on the 16-word" motto (Friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive co-operation, durable stability and future-oriented vision) and the "four-good" spirit (Good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners).

Ha Giang has seven districts bordering Chinese districts, Malypho, Fu Ninh, Ma Jun and Napo in Yunnan and Guangxi provinces.

In recent years, leaders and people from Ha Giang and Chinese provinces often exchanged visits to exchange experience and strengthen friendship relations. Import-export activities via border gates have also increased.

*** A meeting to mark the 61st Chinese National Day was also held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 29.

Duong Quan Ha, President of the Municipal Fatherland Front and Chairman of Vietnam-China Friendship Association and Xu Mingliang, General Consul in Ho Chi Minh City expressed their delight at the fine development of Vietnam-China relations. They agreed that mutual understanding between the two countries has been strengthened, co-operative mechanisms have been completed, trade relations have developed and bilateral co-operation has been promoted.

They said activities shared both countries’ people have been expanded, contributing to enhancing close ties between Ho Chi Minh City and Chinese localities as well as between the two countries.

A wide range of activities have been held to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic ties and the Vietnam-China Friendship Year, such as Chinese art troupes performing in Vietnam and Vietnam Days held in Beijing, and Shanghai.
