The Japanese Government on June 12 signed an agreement to provide non-refundable aid to build three schools at a total cost of almost US$365,000.

Subsequently, the new primary schools will be built in Nam Dinh, Phu Tho and Ninh Binh provinces to replace the dilapidated ones.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yasuaki Tanizaki expressed his hope that the new schools will improve the children’s learning environment and contribute to the socio-economic development of the selected localities.

Japan takes a special interest in primary education in Vietnam and is keen to help improve educational facilities for children, he said.

Over the years, Japan has focused on offering official development assistance (ODA) for small-scale projects at a local level, alongside the larger projects concerning the development of the country’s infrastructure.

To date, 158 primary schools have been built using Japanese funding, providing a better learning environment for tens of thousands of children, said the Ambassador.
