An early spring boat race festival opened in the Ly Son island district in the central province of Quang Ngai on January 26.
The annual event, which aims to express appreciation to the gods, and pray for a safe, sound and good harvest, is being held in An Vinh and An Hai villages.
After completing the boat race, fishermen will bring boats to make ceremonial offerings to the ancestors.
The festival will last until January 30.
Apart from the boat race festival, a wrestling competition will take place there to pray for luck.
