Free bus travel for 1,000 students going home for Tet

VOV.VN - Many students gathered at the Hanoi University of Transport on the morning of February 8 to take a free bus ride to their family homes for the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet).

In the morning, nearly 200 of the total 1,000 students took free bus journeys to return home for Tet.

The 800 remaining students will be provided with other free journeys over the next few days.

The Vietnam Students' Association Central Committee says 30 free bus trips have been organised to carry students from Hanoi to 21 provinces and cities around the north and central provinces so they can spend time with their families for Tet. Around 8,000 gifts will be donated to students with difficulties for the occasion.

The students are eager to take their seats on the buses and return home to see their families.

Le Quoc Phong, the first Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee and chairman of Vietnam Students' Association, presents gifts to students.

All of the students are very happy to be given free bus rides for Tet.

It can be very difficult to travel during Tet so the Vietnam Students' Association Central Committee organised the helpful program to bring students together with their families for Tet.

This year’s program has made special efforts to support students in flood-hit localities.

This is a valuable and meaningful gift for those students who have to travel long distances to return home for Tet.
