Vietnam completing policies on wine, beer management: NA Vice Chairman

Vietnam is completing mechanism and policies to closely control wine and beer consumption as well as manage the time and venues of selling these drinks.

National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien made the statement at a reception for Cyril Sayag, Director of the Asia Pacific International Wine and Spirits Alliance (APIWSA), in Hanoi on March 19.

Hien applauded international wine businesses in Vietnam for approaching and engaging in social activities under the motto of using wine and beer culturally, saying this is a basis for the Vietnamese National Assembly to study mechanisms and policies on wine, beer and alcohol drinks.

For his part, Cyril Sayag said at present, international wine businesses have set up their factories in Vietnam.

He stressed that his organisation supports the strict handling of such behaviours as drinking while driving under the law.

He proposed the Vietnamese legislature assess the impact of tax policies on wine and beer products in the past five years as well as take measures to closely control these products in order to both ensure economic benefits and protect public health.
